IGFA Catch Log app for iPhone and iPad
Developer: International Game Fish Association
First release : 16 Jul 2013
App size: 17.12 Mb
The IGFACatchLog, customized for fishing in Everglades National Park, provides recreational anglers with a way to record catches from their fishing trips and contribute to data collection efforts. Record all catches through a photograph or a Fish Clicker for a quick tally of each catch. Simply snap a photograph and a Visual Identification component will help identify 28 saltwater species by returning a list of potential matches. Anglers must record species, gear used, and whether each fish was kept or released. The app automatically captures the time and location of each catch. Log into www.IGFACatchlog.org to analyze catches by date, gear used, tide conditions, and many other aspects that provide greater insight into what contributes to fishing success. Share photos with friends through Facebook and keep a photo journal of all past fishing trips from within the app and the website. At present, users are limited to approved members of the IGFA Evaluation Team who are participating in an assessment of the utility of this method of recording and reporting catches for management and scientific purposes. Users must register with www.IGFACatchlog.org where they will have access to a variety of useful tools for evaluating their fishing success and patterns.
